Change and Accpetance
now, I was spending my night looking up random videos and I came across a video about tanning in a booth, outside or sprayons. Well she starts going on about this one product she is trying to advertise about a spray at home tanning kit that is healthy and safe and amazing. good for her for doing something better but she starts going off on other products and the comparison, she even gets quotes from cancer society websites about tanning and she tells you the truth about skin cancer. So as she is mumbling away, (oh by the way she is a blonde hollywood girl who seem's to happy and says he word "like" way to much) She starts to talk about the color or tanning and about her generation. She mentions she is twenty one years old and her "generation" loves tanning, and then she throws out the words saying "we all wanna be darker."
Well then im sitting there and I start to think about what she had just said. She admitted to wanting to be darker, not white. everyone hates to be white but think about how hypcrital that is. I mean, how long ago were we segregating people for being darker? and even to this day we continue to do that very thi
ng. And not just the black folk either, mexicans, indians. most of the time a lot of white people will look at them and assume the worst. The blacks and mexicans get it worse. It was even a dillema with the voting, nominating and electing president Obama to rule our country because he is half black. Well that very "shade" that Obama is, well thats a color of "tan" that a lot of us hope to achieve. So this young women subconciously is admitting her contradiction on our judgement on the darker folks of this country for centurys. Now Im starting to think that, Yes we always have said that it was the color of their skin that we feared and they were naturally born evil people. (now remember when im saying this, im referring to back when it was a little more extreme) We knew that darker skin was just not right. But now a days we tend to flee away from being white and want to change. But as americans the want to change is actually the fear of change or difference. At one point we hated darker people, now they are among our society and sadly as americans a lot of us do not appreciate the variety. Im not saying we are racial and all or even any of us do not like darker people, im saying that we dont like change, and this being change and difference, we addapt. If we are tanner, darker and closer to the "color" of the majority of our people, we are safe. Also think about terrorists. We see a man with a tan skin color with a beard, and inside we think about terrrorist after everything america has been through. But then you look to your other side and there is a white man with the same beard. So thus the color of the mans skin is what makes us worry for our saftey. But his color is the exact color that teenage girls spray on their bodies a week before prom. Is that right.
America is afraid to be different. everyone is conforming to eachother so no one is the "odd" one of the bunch. This takes me to another bothersom topic amongst this ganre. How ensecure we are with ourselves. Why cant be appreciate the color of our skin. Weather we are black or white or brown or tan we are all different and its rediculous how nearly everyone is trying there hardest to be like everyone else. Even darker people such as blacks tan themselves. They say it to have a better skin complection or a more golden glow. Well that is complete bull shit. (excuse my language) Everyone knows its miserable to change for society. perfect example is prom. Every teenage girl going to prom wants to tan so they can look good. or tan there legs so they can wear shorts or a bikini. Well different shades do not change who you are or the beauty of yourself. White, brown orange or black, natural or fake it shouldnt be necessary that our human kind has figure out a way to change our appearance.
And that leads me
to another topic of our need to change who we are through perminant procedures. Plastic surgury, liposuction, tattoo's. humans have created some of the most deadliest diseases out there and there not weapons, wars or technologys. There our need to be perfect. our self esteem level smashed to pieces by the media and who controlls how someone looks. as a group people decided that to "tan" it looked good or cool. A new hair style or type of clothing was hip. Well you think that its important to be as perfect as possible, weather is spending money on plastic surgury because you cant just appreciate who you are or its throwing away your money on a pair of clothing or shoes that ten years down the road you will realize you looked like a fool.
So my point is, stop judging, stop changing and stop conforming to everyone else.
being an inidividual is so highly looked upon but maybe thats because no one knows how to fallow it. We think we are individuals but we are not. We dream of that and only that.
another thing, we all do it, we all did it and we will all continue it. Im not a hypocrit for doing everything I just stated for being so wrong, I am merely stating the truth and that if we realize it maybe we can together change it. Until then, go buy your new shoes, get plastic surgery if you really need to but keep in mind, you ever complain or claim yourself as an individual, think before you speak.
think before you judge because who knows, maybe someday it might be "cool" to be albino white. becaue just as darker people we once judged them and now we are trying to be like them. and someday we will become everything we once hated. history proves it more then well that we fallow a pattern of trying to "fit in" to society, think about it
